Maria De Angelis, of Leeds Beckett University School of Social Sciences and Project Director of the amazing online exhibition Asylum in Art, has developed a Seminar for students which we think makes a great resource for any church or community group interested in exploring more about the reality of seeking asylum in Britain.
The seminar involves watching two 5 minute videos, freely available on Youtube, and then offers some questions and a breakout guide to help people explore some of the facts and realities for asylum seekers in Britain.
- The links to the two videos are in the powerpoint which can be downloaded here AS 2021 seminar.
- Questions for the group AS 2021 seminar QUESTIONNAIRE

Additional Resources for Church Groups
For church groups in particular, we recommend also using Inderjit Bhogal’s free booklet “Hospitality and Sanctuary For All“, which offers prompts for conversation and reflection on the theme of hospitality and sanctuary. Though people of different backgrounds are involved in the work of hospitality and sanctuary, this is a resource produced for churches.
This resource is free to use. Please let us know if you do! Download Hospitality and Sanctuary for All
