Our Partners

Cooperation is a core value of our work at LCI, and we work with many church, denominational, and civic partners to bring our shared vision to life. Get to know a few of our key partners here…

Schools of Sanctuary

If you seek to make your school a place of welcome and safety for those seeking sanctuary, you could be well on the way to acquiring the Schools of Sanctuary award. The award is a way of demonstrating your commitment to educating all children in your school about the human right to sanctuary.

You will build empathy and intercultural awareness for all so even if you do not have children actively seeking sanctuary in school, you can still gain the award.

Leeds Church Institute have been funding the work of Schools of Sanctuary in Leeds, and hosting the Awards ceremony. If you would like to know more about Schools of Sanctuary, you can find their website here.

Leeds Sanctuary

Leeds Sanctuary is a city centre project focusing on reflection, wellbeing, activism and creativity. They create spaces and resources, both digital and in-person, for people to connect more deeply with themselves, one another, and important issues of social justice.

Leeds Sanctuary work in partnership with many organisations including Leeds Church Institute and share our city centre office. In 2023 we collaborated on a series of Sketch Walks, getting to know the social justice history of the city through creative sketching.

As a Christian project for people of all faiths and none, they are always looking for new ways of connecting with partners and people and have a strong history of Methodism in Leeds City Centre. You can find out more about their work on their website here.

Leeds Citizens

Leeds Citizens is an alliance of faith, education and community organisations, working together for the common good of Leeds. They exist to build the power of ordinary people, so they can take action for social justice, win change and build relationships across diverse communities. They use Community Organising to help people of all ages run exciting campaigns that get decision makers to listen and act on the issue that matter to them.

We work with Leeds Citizens to empower faith communities to create a better city for the benefit of all, and see social action as a core principle of our Christian faith. You can listen to Alison Webster explore the theological roots of community organising in this recording from our God Church and Citizens event.

Leeds Citizens is part of Citizens UK, a network of local Citizens alliances, the home of community organising in the UK. Community organising is democracy in action, winning victories that change lives and transform communities.
