You may be aware that we are currently working with our 2021 Bursary recipients Artist Leon Varga and Theologian Christine Sharpe to develop their vision for creating resources to enable reflection on life and faith in Leeds. The bursary has been running since March and so the impact of the pandemic has formed their thinking and creating. In the light of this, Leon has produced work on the theme of balance, thinking about time and physical distance. His art installation will be a delight to look at and will stimulate some thinking around current experiences. You can see some photos of the work in progress which looks exciting and brings the vision to life. If it makes you wonder whether people can use the seesaws, the answer is yes. And they come with their own risk assessment, of course.

We are calling out to you to get involved in this stimulating and engaging art installation to know if it could be exhibited at your church. It would provide a dynamic focal point and support a sense of community and well-being for your worshippers and members. If you would like to see a different example of art installations, you might like to look at this amazing initiative which developed sculptures for seven churches in the North of the diocese: https://www.artinthechurches.co.uk/ . We hope to develop a local Leeds Church Arts Trail and would be delighted if you would support us to pilot this for 2021/2.

Please do get in touch if you would be interested in hosting this or would like to know more. This is a truly unique exhibition which hopes to support you with the continued positive work you do within the community. For further info contact: [email protected] or [email protected]

We look forward to hearing from you!
