Koran_shutterstock_144203029A group of 15 of us looked at Mona Siddiqui’s book, ‘The Good Muslim’ over lunch. Most of us hadn’t read the book before, and some, but not all, had a knowledge of Islam. It was a dynamic discussion where we were challenged to express theological responses to a range of issues that arise from Christian-Muslim dialogue.
We looked at the project of the book – what we can learn through dialogue –  and also at specific chapters on divorce, understandings of evil and the alliteratively titled ‘Pig, purity and permission’.
It was a stimulating discussion. I’m looking forward to the next Lunchtime Conversations – Nov 5th on Parables as Subversive Speech.
