And then there are the stories that can’t be told; voices silenced by fear or force, lack of education or resource, censorship or disempowerment. In a small group workshop held on Sunday 9th June, space was made to hear and reflect upon stories from the margins of our society. Gill Gibbons from Parents Against Child Sexual Exploitation (PACE) told some stories from children and families who had suffered sexual exploitation and CJ Ojukwu read poetry and spoke about the story of murdered refugee, David Oluwale. The challenging and thought provoking session added an important aspect to the Big Bookend Festival as a whole.
